The cinema seems to be chock full of top films, so many that every time I go I see another one I want to see!

I’m not so sure I picked the right film to watch on the anniversary of the day we lost my Mum, but that didn’t really strike me until I was a fair way into the film.  So what’s it all about?  I don’t want to give too much away but basically – Casey Affleck (Lee), Ben’s younger brother, plays an obviously unhappy man who gets pulled back to his past by a sad event in the present.  His brother dies which forces him back to Manchester by the sea to look after his 16 year old nephew.  The film deals with their emotions and in time lets the watcher know the source of Lee’s deep unhappiness.  I won’t say any more than that, but I will say it’s a beautifully shot film portraying deep emotion.

The film has received Oscar nominations including Best Actor for Affleck, with Hacksaw Ridge and Fences on my must see list and La La Land already seen, I have to say that as much as I loved the musical I think it’ll be a farce if Ryan Gosling receives that award.

Will you Learn anything?     You’ll be given an insight into a very sad topic

Did I cry?   Yes, lots – this is a packet of tissues film!

Will you cry?  I imagine most people will shed tears at this film, it’s a no mascara movie and tissues are a must

Worth watching at the cinema?   Yes
